Learn to fly — start on your phone.

Niubalus Academy is the training school of Niubalus Logistics in Port Moresby. Study the theory on your phone — short lessons, videos with 3D graphics, quizzes and practice exams — then fly and talk on the radio in person with an instructor. Pay in full or one stage at a time through BSP Pay.

Sign in with your PNG phone number — a one-time code arrives on WhatsApp, or by SMS if WhatsApp cannot reach you. No password, no app store. The course introduction is free to watch before you pay.

What it does

Everything for the course, in one app.

Course

Remote Pilot Licence — drones up to 25 kg

72 lessons across 24 sections, a quiz for every section, timed practice exams, then live classes, flight training and the flight test. Pay in full, or in ten stages.

Course

Aeronautical Radio Operator (AROC)

37 lessons on PNG airspace, phraseology, Jacksons Tower and the MORESBY flight information service, emergencies and radio for drone jobs near aerodromes — then a live radio class and a practical. Pay in full, or in three stages.

Stages

Pay one stage at a time

Each payment opens the next part of the course. Paying in full opens everything at once. Your statement and receipts are always on the Payments page.

Lessons

Lessons built for PNG

Plain-English lessons with Tok Pisin summaries and PNG examples — Tabubil, the Highlands, mission airstrips. Videos never play by themselves, to save your data.

Help

Ask the tutor, or ask your instructor

An AI tutor explains any lesson in English or Tok Pisin. Still stuck? Send the question to your instructor and get the answer on WhatsApp.

Practice

A fresh exam paper every time

Every quiz and practice exam is drawn at random and marked on the server, so you practise the real thing — not memorise one paper.

Classes

Book classes and flying days

Book live classes, flight training, the radio practical and the exam in the app once that stage is paid. A reminder arrives the day before.

WhatsApp

Messages that reach you

Payment receipts, document checks, results and class reminders arrive on WhatsApp and stay in the app's Messages inbox.

Certificate

A certificate you can download

When you have passed the exam and the practical and the course is paid, the academy issues your certificate as a PDF.

How it works

From sign-in to certificate.

Prices, stages and results are decided by the academy's server, never by the phone. A stage opens only when BM Pay confirms the money has arrived.

  1. 1Sign in with your phone number and watch the free course introduction
  2. 2Enrol — pay the whole course, or the first stage, with BSP Pay
  3. 3Study the lessons, pass the section quizzes and the practice exams
  4. 4Book your classes, flying days or radio practical; your instructor signs your records
  5. 5Pass the theory exam and the practical — the academy issues your certificate

Built on the BM rails

Built on the BM rails.

Niubalus Academy signs in with BM ID, takes payments through BM Pay and sends its messages through BM Com — the same rails as the other BM apps.

  • Payments run through BM Pay on BSP Pay: CIF and mobile OTP, no card details typed into a phone.
  • Your phone number is your ID: one-time codes on WhatsApp (SMS if WhatsApp cannot reach you), no passwords, the same BM ID in every BM app.
  • The price is set by the academy's server — a phone can never change what it is charged.
  • Quiz and exam answers stay on the server and are marked there, so they cannot be copied out of the app.
  • WhatsApp messages go only to the phone number BM ID has verified, never to a number typed into a form.
  • Built for PNG mobile data: videos load only when you tap play, and lessons work on any Android phone or iPhone.
Questions

Askim na bekim

The things people ask before they try it.

Who runs Niubalus Academy?

Niubalus Logistics Ltd, from Niubalus HQ at Kennedy Estate, 7 Mile, Port Moresby. The in-person classes, flying days and radio practicals are taught by Niubalus instructors.

Is the academy certificate a licence?

No. The academy certificate records that you completed the course of training. Pilot licences and ratings are issued by CASA PNG.

What does it cost?

Fees are shown in the app before you pay — for the whole course, or stage by stage. The course introduction is free to watch.

What do I need to enrol?

For the Remote Pilot Licence, upload your Year 12 leavers certificate first (in the app's Documents page). The radio course is open to anyone.

Is there an English test?

Yes — aviation work is done in English, so the academy is adding an English proficiency test (reading, listening, speaking and radio replies) that will be needed before the second lesson of any course. It opens soon; an approved English certificate counts instead.

How long do I have to finish?

24 months for the Remote Pilot Licence and 12 months for the radio course, counted from your first payment. The academy can extend it if you have a good reason.

Ready?

Start with the free introduction.

Open Niubalus Academy, sign in with your phone number and watch the course introduction — then enrol when you are ready.
